ADRA Response to Recent Disasters

We have already an appeal for a humanitarian response in Ukraine through the ADRA Australia website.  When we have a mega disasters or conflict situations like this, we always work together with the rest of the ADRA network and combine all the funds.  

Funds raised (or offerings) by our individual supporters, churches, Op Shops, etc., for the Ukraine, Tonga, or Australian floods will be used for such purposes.  We have already committed an initial $100K to Ukraine, $132K to Tonga (with other partners) and are assessing the flood needs with the conferences concerned.  We do not have any restrictions to send funding overseas because supporting humanitarian operations like the Ukraine response is part of our purpose and we follow accountability/reporting practices acceptable in Australia.  

In the case of Ukraine, we believe ADRA will be involved not only in the initial humanitarian response but also in recovery and rehabilitation.  It is hard to know how long this will take but the ADRA network has already activated emergency response teams supporting Ukraine and the neighbouring countries.
